Have been looking at a new JD 790 4WD priced at $11689 plus $2715 for a JD 419 bucket. So far so good. The dealer has strongly suggested however adding 3 way hydrolics for ease of use for box scraper and other implements. Price of this addition $1850. Dealer says adding same will be "twice as much later"(?).

Do I want this feature added and why? Would use this tractor for a modest 2 acres of field work and for horse stable and arena maintanance.

I paid $13200 out the door for 790 with 419 loader and 5 ft box scraper,so your price is sounding fairly close. Don't understand the term 3 way hyd, but if your talking about a hyd top link i would get it, you can change the angle of box scraper without leaving the seat or if you intend to get pallet fork on back as I did you'll be glad you got it.
I didn't get one but now I'm looking into it. climbing on and off the tractor to reset the angles is getting old fast. ....

I got the rear remote on mine for the 7 series hoe (open center)I made my own hydraulic top link $80 for the cylinder,$60 for the valve and $/couplers30 for hoses. However if you plan on doing alot of box scraping I recomend one period !!!! ADJUSTING IS A REAL TIME KILLER !! SCRAPING/PUSHING REQUIRE DIFFERENT ANGLES.
I DONT HAVE THE PRICE ON MY (POWER BEYOND KIT)IT WAS PART OF THE HOE PRICE. ....

A rear hydraulic valve controlled outlet is very handy. A post hole auger is my only implement that doesn't use a rear outlet, and some people buy augers with down-pressure kits that need one. Most things these days have some sort of option available that needs a rear valve controlled outlet. They are very handy. My forklift needs two rear outlets and I have to steel my loader bucket valve to use the forklift. The PB kits for hoes and other implements with their own valves is something different.

The term 'three-way hydraulics' is a bit ambiguous. The term often means the number of connections of a valve to the hydraulic system. In the context here it probably means a three spool valve assembly rather than a standard two spool valve assembly for a loader. A price of $1850 does seem a little high since additional control sections can be purchased separately form many valve assemblies. However, I probably don't appreciate the problem since I don't have a joystick linkage. What you should expect for a factory option is high-quality, convenient operation and something that's specifically designed for the tractor, so maybe it's worth the price.

I would recommend getting it. This will give you much more flexibility down the road with implements. Will also allow you to use a MMM if you choose later. Not to mention a 4 in 1 bucket. I feel your pain though, those hydraulics are expensive! ....

Ya any thing that has the letters JD on it is through the roof! some thing's for tractor is best to get through them but as far as implements go i'll try to make it before i'll pay there out of this world price.I'm sure they make quality imps though, At least they should be as for the price they try to get.But if I can put something togather and it will work for me thats what I'll do.also it keeps me busy in the mornings before work, and i enjoy trying to craft things. ....
